Craft Beer Bucks the Recession
Recession? Really? According to the Brewer's Association, the craft brewing industry grew 5.9% by volume in 2008. In dollars the growth was a more impressive 10.1%. At the same time, non-craft domestic production grew by only 0.6%. This demonstrates the power of product. If you make quality (tasty) product, customers will come. So, for the sake of the economy, support your local brewery today. Enjoy wisely. Cheers!

No Nonsense Tasting: Mothership Wit
New Belgium Brewing Co.
ABV 4.8%
IBU 15
Style: Wit
Serve in: Tumbler or Weizen
Impressions:
The Mothership Wit from New Belgium Brewing gets high marks from Brewed, Fermented & Distilled. The cloudy golden yellow reminds me of the classic flavorful wheat beers that I first met in Bavaria fourteen years ago. The sample that I tried, which may have been over-carbonated, had a full head and crisp taste. Wheat flavors are quickly noticeable, but I also got hints of citrus and, believe it or not undertones of olives. The finish was fleeting and buttery. I wouldn't normally associate buttery taste with a good wheat, but in this brew it works. For me, the Mothership Wit could easily be a "go to" wit.
